AREA SALES MANAGER – COLOMBO

One of our prestigious Clients’, who is an international leading manufacturer and supplier of a broad range of wires & cables, custom cable, cable protection systems for robotics, and cable accessories is looking for “Area Sales Manager’’, to work in their Colombo office immediately.
LOCATION AND TRAVEL
Flexible – must be able to travel across Sri Lanka. Ideally must be based near the greater Colombo Region.
The corporate management team consists of CEO, Commercial Manager, Financial Manager, Technology Manager,
Production manager, National Sales Manager, Export Manager, and Quality Manager. The company has 30 subsidiaries globally.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Analyze the Sri Lanka market, the customer base and opportunities for the company to grow under the new expanded conditions.
Develop and implement a sales strategy in line with corporate strategy to establish a nationwide network and increase turnover in Sri Lanka.
Leadership to motivate office staff as well as field salespeople.
Maintain a strong sales capability to drive growth – this role is very hands-on and will be expected to spend time with customers.
Provide Key Account Management to the larger and more important clients
Full budget and personnel responsibility.
Travel with a high focus on customer’s face to face visits and attendance at trade shows and exhibitions is expected
The company has a very varied customer base including small and large clients in both direct (especially OEM), and indirect (e.g. wholesale and distribution) channels. Their main focus is direct to OEM customers.
The Area Sales Manager must have the capabilities to attract customers by promoting our high standard cable products against local cable manufacturer products. The local Sri Lanka cable industry does often not offer constant quality products and does not have the product portfolio like
For each customer, the Area Sales Manager will usually target the technical and procurement department. The technical department becomes more important where the specification of a product is needed. This means the sales success is achieved by convincing customers to use the right products for their applications even when price discrepancies exist against local players.
RECRUITMENT PROFILE – MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education – Graduate, ideally with a degree/technical diploma within Engineering, preferably electromechanical engineering.
Language – English is a must.
Professional Experience – Proven track record in sales management Track record of developing and implementing sales strategy. Ideally experienced with working with OEMs and distributors.
Sector Experience – Electromechanical sector experience. Knowledge of the cable and wiring industry is a plus, however, will consider candidates from related technical sectors or those who have experience with company customer markets
Other specific skills or knowledge – Experienced with large territorial responsibilities Good presentation and Microsoft Office skills. Knowledge of ERP systems (preferred Navision or SAP).
Additional Value – Experience of working for internationally HQ business would be an advantage – comfortable working remotely. Demonstrates proactivity and enthusiasm Leadership skills, able to motivate, engage and influence.
